How to find the Tulum Art Walk
First of all, if you’re not familiar with Holistika Tulum, it is a boutique hotel located in the La Veleta neighborhood. In addition, the hotel provides various classes. These classes range from yoga to a variety of spiritual experiences. Also, at Holistika there is a pretty amazing vegan restaurant.
The Jungle Art Walk is located within the property and free to the public. When you arrive at Holistika, simply make a right. Then you will find yourself walking past the restaurant and various activity centers. Eventually, after a minute or two, you will be close to the entrance of the art walk. That being said, the entrance is not blatantly obvious but there is an arrow pointing the way. Below is a picture of the entrance.

Rex Angel Tip: If you have trouble finding it, you can always ask the hotel reception. It is located on the right side when you first enter Holistika

Tips to Enjoy Your Jungle Art Walk Experience
- Bug spray. And bug spray. Then, more bug spray. Do not forget you are in the middle of the jungle where the bugs are thirsty! (If you’re in the market for a travel size insect repellent, Natrapel and Ben’s both have small 37ml bottles.
- Do the walk twice to fully appreciate it. (I found on my first walk, I was too focused on taking photos of the pieces. However, during the second walk, I took more time to look at each piece carefully. The allowed me to appreciate the art).
- Keep your eyes peels. Most of the art structures are easy to come across. However, there is the odd few that appear a bit “hidden” in the jungle.
- Do the Art Walk during the day. I imagine there will not be as much light on the path in the evening. In addition, the bugs will be much worse at night! Besides, the structures looks most stunning in the daytime.

Tulum is overall a safe town, but definitely a place to be on alert. I’ve heard stories of muggings, home robberies, and gun violence (typically related to drug violence) but did not witness personally on my trips. The La Veleta neighborhood I mention in this post is still developing and does not have the best light at night. Be cautious and take a cab instead of walking alone in the dark. I suggest reading about safety in Mexico. And I do advocate for travel insurance. If applicable to you, check with your employee benefits to see if you are covered. Otherwise, I like World Nomads as it’s quite reputable and provides 24-hour assistance.
